In Rain In My Summer, I mentioned about the assassin who accidentally killed Brad's girlfriend Karyl. She took the bullet that was meant for Brad. In my next book, I am writing about the assassin himself, Rob.
At first, I wondered why he wanted to hide his real identity when he met the heroine. Later on, he told me about the past he'd rather not remember. He was an assassin for hire. He belong to a mercenary group who kill someone for the right price. He never failed in any contract he signed. Until he killed Karyl and his life was never the same afterward.
He never got over Karyl's death in his hands. He was supposed to kill Brad but because of a wrong calculation, the woman with his target was hit instead. He knew who Brad was. Knew what he is capable of and he knew that he had to have a backup plan just in case he would retaliate. But he didn't. He couldn't because the woman he loved lay dying in his arms.
Only a coward would strike the enemy through their loved ones, he remembered the words from his father long time ago. He only realized now that his father was right. He was a coward, whether or not it was an accident.
So he quit the mercenary group after paying respects to the only civilian he had accidentally killed throughout his long career as an assassin for hire. Everyone thought he was dead and he liked it that way. He decided to come home to his mother's country and claim his inheritance. It was a five hectare land situated in the boundaries of Davao City, near Buda. He was determined to live a solitary life, a life fit for someone with his past. No woman could ever love a man who killed for money or accept the guilt along with it.
And after fifteen long years since he became mercenary, he used his original name again. No more false passports and aliases although he still kept them in his possession. No more lies although that part of his past must forever remain a secret. He never wanted anyone to know. Wouldn't want to associate himself with others, not knowing just how much of himself he is willing to give.
Until Marife trespassed into his territory. And before he knew it, she had also trespassed into his heart.
So far, this is what I had come up with. I hope this one will work out. And I hope RIMS will be approved so I can go ahead with this plot. It's so hard to focus on a new idea now without knowing how my previous submission fared.
